D-Term 2007 - 2008 is the first phase of the Middle School’s interim term for the eighth grade. For an introduction to D-Term, watch the movie above. There are six groups that will focus on issues specific to Austin. After coming up with a top ten list of problems, students will research local organizations that address the problems. Groups will then devise an awareness campaign as well as volunteer with a local organization. D-Term 2007 - 2008 D-Term Introduction and Group Selection August 27th, Science Lab 8 A to Z Group Activity August 30th, 8th period Challenge: Get your group from point A (Arboretum) to point Z (Zilker Park) without watching others or talking. Brainstorming Session September 6th, after lunch in the Recital Hall Interview techniques September 18th, Anthropology classes Job Assignments October 16th, after lunch Research Skills October 31, English classes Chapel Speakers: Mr. Pearson - September Father Gomez, November 1st Lunch Speakers: Dr. Neavel, November 13th Beth Atherton, December 7th rachel nation, December 6th and 13th The Yellow Bike Project, December 14th Building Consensus November 29th and 30th, after lunch, Recital Hall Research November 27-December 17, Theology classes Volunteer and Work Days December 17 -19 Art Exhibit: Aware in Austin February 10-March 4, Scanlan Gallery
