French is the only language besides English that is spoken on five or more continents. French is an official language of 29 countries and is the language of commerce and education in many others.

After English, French is the most widely taught second language in the world.

English and French are the two working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, and the two official languages of NATO and the International Court of Justice.

France is the world's number one tourist destination, welcoming over 8 million more visitors each year than the second most popular destination, the United States. Wouldn't it be nice to speak the language when you get there?

Largely as a result of the Norman (French) conquest of the Anglo-Saxons (English) in 1066, approximately 40% of English words are of French origin. Can you say "SAT preparation"? (BTW, "preparation" is one of those French words, as is just about every other word you know that ends in -tion.)
