Many people believe that poverty is caused only by the poor's unwillingness to work. In this D-Term we've addressed what actually makes these people go below the poverty level. One of the major causes is the mental health, or lack thereof, of the people below the poverty line. If someone doesn't have perfect mental health, if they're depressed, anxious, or have one of the many problems that fail to be diagnosed, they are twice as likely to be fired from their job and forced to live on the streets. This D-Term, we've spent time trying to learn how these people become homeless, how we can help them, and how they can get back on their feet.
