McBurgerQueen

Guy: Hello. Can I have a Number 1?

Worker: Do you want fries with that?

Guy: Yeah, and a large coke.

Worker: Sure. Anything else?

Guy: No, that's all for me.

Worker: That will be $6.95.

(Guy chews hamburger with mouth open. Everyone in McBurgerQueen stares because they could hear him chewing. Finally, Guy finishes eating and chucks his half-eaten burger into the trash. A small boy, extremely skinny because of lack of food, appears. He stops Guy and takes the burger out of the trash can.)

Starving Child: What are you doing? Do you not know that thousands of people in Austin are missing meals everyday because they cannot afford to buy food? Americans throw away 45% of edible food! How can you waste food when you know that someone is dying because they don't have food?

Guy: Wow. I had no idea. Thank you for giving me a much-needed reality check. I will try my very best to give everything that I don't need to people who are less fortunate by way of the food banks and other charities. That way, the food I would have thrown in the trash goes to someone who needs it more than I.

(Starving Child thanks Guy and eats the rest of Guy's burger as he walks out of McBurgerQueen)

The Farmer's Farm

(Farmer is planting Genetically Modified Organisms, or GMO's for short. Environmentalist arrives on the farm and observes the current goings-on.)

Farmer: Can I help you?

Environmentalist: Yes. I'd like to ask you a few questions about your farm. How do you make your plants so big? They also seem to stay ripe for a long time. Would you mind explaining to me how that is so?

Farmer: I plant GMO's. They help business. Since I'm in competition with big farms, I have to make sure my crops look just as nice.

Environmentalist: GMO's are potencially dangerous. Since they have been messed with in a lab, they are not as healthy or safe as normal fruits and veggies. An alternative to harming the environment is to help it. You can achieve this by planting organic crops. It helps the soil, and though they may not stay pretty, they taste much better. In regards to the competition in the supermarket, you can register for the local farmer's market. It reduces cost of transportation.

Farmer: Wow, I had no idea about any of this. Thank you for valuable advice.
