General and Unclassified Links
The
following are links to academic contest sources; information about Texas JCL conventions and rules,
previous tests, scholarships; Latin and Greek dictionaries, etc. For more focused links, scroll further down. ALSO check the Classics Links elsewhere on the Classics Department website. There is an overlap of resources.
http://njcl.org/pages/njcl-academics - This site contains a valuable archive of the academic tests from previous years, plus rules for all contests
http://www.tsjcl.org/resources.php - This site contains last year’s academic tests at the State convention, plus rules for all contests.
http://www.cambridgescp.com - The Cambridge Latin Course has forty-eight independent study areas, grouped to support the "target" cultural essays of each stage. You will need your password to gain access. Do consult the National Junior Classical League test archives before plunging in. It pays to know what sort of questions the examiner will ask!
http://www.tsjcl.org/docs/sourcelist.doc - The authoritative bookllist of study sites for the individual academic contests. This is the place to start when preparing for your chosen events
http://www.tsjcl.org/sponsors/contests.php - This link steers you to all the contest rules, not just those for academic events. There is also a link to "Open Certamen" (Latin Quiz Bowl), which anyone may enter at State.
http://njcl.org/pages/previous-njcl-tests - This area takes you through 2008. However, in February, 2010, the the NJCL opened a special link to the 2009 test archives, not available on its public website. Go to the main NJCL website, click on "Member Teachers," key in as username: JCLMember, key in as password: Romulus753BC Continue to watch this area as they say they will add to it.
