Practice

Practice is a part of every religious tradition, and of spiritual life in general.

For Episcopalians, primary practices include:

using the Book of Common Prayer,

taking part in certain regular parts of worship -- the sacraments, including Holy Communion, and

sharing the good news.

A highly structured life of discipline and practice is found at contemplative Christian communities such as this one near Georgia O'Keeffe's old home town in New Mexico, or this one where Thomas Merton lived, or this one near Big Sur in California.
Forms of practice in various traditions include

prayer,

community service,

peacemaking,

chanting,

singing, exemplified by groups as different as the St. David's music programs, the Dixie Hummingbirds, and multiphonic singing by Tibetan lamas.

Other practices involve moving, such as walking (St. David's Church), dancing, tai chi with local teacher Jingyu Guchi, and aikido at Aikido of Austin.

Still other forms of practice include

serving tea in Japan or England,

practicing archery,

creating gardens.
