Email Accounts:
Every student, faculty and staff member of St. Stephen's is assigned an email account. The userids for all student email accounts take the form of firstname.lastname, whereas faculty & staff userids take the form of firstinitiallastname.
For example, student Jane Doe would log into network servers with the userid jane.doe. Furthermore, this student's internet email address would be jane.doe@sstx.org. Teacher Bill Roberts would log into the network with userid broberts. This teacher's internet email address would take the form of: broberts@sstx.org.
Email Access:
When using a computer on the St. Stephen's network, you will find an icon on the computer's desktop called "FirstClass". This is the standard method of accessing your email on campus.
When off-campus, there are two methods by which you can check your school email:
Method 1: Web Client.
Simply direct your web browser to http://mail.sstx.org
and select the "Log into your account" link.
Pros: simple; requires no software
installation Cons: slow, fewer features
that the full email client
Method 2: FirstClass Client.
This method requires you to download the client software of our
email system onto your home computer.
Pros: Very fast & reliable; full feature set Cons: Requires one-time software install and configuration
Email Restrictions:
St. Stephen's email accounts are issued to facilitate communication and collobration between members of the school community. These accounts should not be used for purposes such as mp3 distribution, junk mail subscriptions, and other non-school related activities. Please see the school's Appropriate Use Policy for additional details regarding email and other network use.
